What Determines Your Size?

Three things affect which wrap size is right for you:

πŸ‘€

Your Body Size

The biggest factor. Your torso length and chest size determine how much fabric you need to wrap comfortably and tie off securely.

πŸ’ž

Desired Carries

Different carries use different amounts of fabric. A front carry needs more length than a ruck; a shorty carry uses much less. Your base size covers the most options.

πŸ‘ΆπŸΎ

Your Child's Size

Your child's weight doesn't significantly change your base size β€” but it may influence which carries you prefer and whether you want extra length for padding passes.

What is a Base Size?

Your base size is the shortest wrap length you need to do a Front Wrap Cross Carry (FWCC) β€” the most versatile beginner carry. It's the size you can do the most carries with, which is why it's usually the best first wrap to buy.

Most wearers find their base size is between 5 and 7. If you're new, start here.

Your "Shorty" Size

What's a Shorty?

A shorty is a wrap that's two sizes below your base. It uses less fabric and works great for quick back carries like a Ruck tied in front.

Wrap Width

Wide vs. Narrow

Most woven wraps are 26" – 28" wide (66 – 71 cm). Width affects how the wrap fans out over your baby's seat and your shoulder.

Wide (28")Better spread for toddlers; more coverage across the seat and shoulders.
Narrow (26")Easier to manage for newborns; some wearers prefer narrow for any age.

Preferences vary β€” many wearers use narrow wraps happily with toddlers too.

How to Measure Your Wrap

πŸ“

Measuring Along the Rail

Woven wraps are measured along one rail β€” the long edge of the wrap. Use a soft tape measure and lay the wrap flat as you go.

Machine-woven wraps like Didymos typically have tapered ends, which make for a trimmer knot and easier tie-off. Over time you'll discover your preferences for tail length and finish style.
